1 hour 30 minutes to go...

Had a last minute Topshop dash today in my lunch hour and bought a new dress, a new blazer and a black peplum top for work. Seriously doubting I'll actually be able to do this - I went out to buy my friend some shoes yesterday and ended up in HOF drooling over a McQ by Alexander McQueen dress. They also still had this Markus Lupfer jumper that I swear has been stalking me. Seriously, I have been seeing it on loads of my regular online browsing haunts. If it goes on sale I may have to cave. I also bought an I ♥ London Union Jack Mango Tee (all in support of Team GB of course).  I guess all I can say now is roll on February! I'm going to try and take pics of my outfits each day and post to here also although my photography skills are  questionable.

The Challenge...

I have decided to undertake a wardrobe challenge. Starting on 1st August 2012 I will not buy any clothes for 6 months  (possibly extending to a year if I can survive 6 months and wish to continue), instead I will make the clothes already in my wardrobe work. I decided to attempt this challenge after looking at my wardrobe and realising I had a clear out not long ago yet seem to have accumulated a lot more clothes since then. Upon researching (aka googling it) I have seen quite a few people have undertaken challenges similar to this one such as wearing everything in her closet at least oncebeing sponsored to not buy clothes for a yearThe Great American Apparel Diet and The Uniform Project. My decision to do this challenge is not for any anti fashion or anti consumerism reasons or anything like that (I am most definitely pro fashion which is why I am calling this a challenge), it is a purely personal one to see if I can do it, to see how much money I will save in the process and curious to see how creative I can be with items already in my wardrobe. I am hoping this will also help teach me to shop more wisely in future instead of succumbing to impulse buys. Shoes and accessories are exempt from the challenge because my current job requires me to get at least 1 pair of new shoes every 3 months for uniform. Underwear and Hosiery are also exempt as I deem them to be absolute essentials and you never know when you may get a ladder/fall over and have an emergency need for a new pair of tights! Finally purchasing clothes as gifts for another person and receiving clothes as a gift myself within reason is also acceptable, as the challenge will still be going over both Christmas and my Birthday and at least one person always gets me pyjamas!
